Happy Birthday Kapatid!!!

Manila: 23 October 2004, 1:31 PM
San Francisco: 22 October 2004, 10:30 PM

Today is the 21st Birthday of Michael who is my one and only Kapatid. He's in San Francisco right now and I just finished talking to him over the cellphone. Yan na ang birthday gift ko sa kanya. Mahal ang overseas call ha! Hehe!

For the record, when my brother was here, there was never a day that we wouldn't argue about something - petty things most of the time. Such as fighting over the remote and control of the TV (which is in the room of my mom), the radio (which is in his room), the use of MY PC (which is in the computer room and I would like to stress that it is MINE), him borrowing my things without asking for permission, him losing the things which he borrowed, and so and and so forth.

We also fought about real issues such as his low grades, his vices, his B.I. friends, his extravagant lifestyle, his inability to inform Mama or me where he is through text or phone call, his cellphone which is always "unattended" thus we cannot contact him most of the time, and other really irritating stuff which makes me really pissed off.

But at the end of the day, he is still my brother. Now that he's a gazillion miles away, there are actually some irritating and not-so-irritating things that he does which I miss. When I'm home alone, I realize that our small house gets very lonely especially during weekends and I'm the only one watching TV. Here are some of the normal scenes which my brother and I participate in regularly:

The Coke-and-V-Cut Scene

A regular weekend scene in our house which happens only when my mom isn't home.
My brother and I loooovvveeee watching TV and we loooovveeeeee it if we have something to eat and drink while watching TV. Our favorite junkfood is V-cut paired with Coke in plastic.

Maan: Wow! V-cut! Pahinge! Painom na rin ng Coke.
Michael: Ano ka ba! Bumili ka nga ng sarili mo.
Maan: Alam mo ang damot mo! Bibili talaga ako noh. Wag kang hihingi ah!

After 5 minutes...

Michael: Pahingi!
Maan: Ayoko nga!
Michael: Ang damot mo ah!
Maan: Ang kapal mo! Ikaw ang madamot!
Michael: Pahingi na kasi. Konti lang!
Maan: O sige! Basta lipat mo yung channel.

The Early-Morning-TV-Watching Scene

Happens on a weekend usually around 9AM.

Maan: Ano ba! Natutulog pa ako. Mamaya ka na manuod ng TV!
Michael: Ang hina-hina na kaya.
Maan: Well hinaan mo pa!
Michael: Wala na akong marinig.
Maan screaming: Patayin mo nalang kaya! Mamaya ka na manuod!!! Mama!!!

The Who's-Going-Out-Who's-Staying-Home-With-Mama Scene

Maan: May gimmick ako bukas. Wag kang aalis. Samahan mo si Mama.
Michael: Ano ka! May gimmick din ako.
Maan: OK ka lang! Matagal ko ng plano to noh at kaka-gimmick mo lang kagabi. Bahala ka!
Michael: Bahala ka rin!

There are a lot more scenes which my brother and I are really fond of but the three scenarios above are the usual and regular ones.

Since it's his birthday today, allow me to be a little sentimental:

Kapatid! Nakakalungkot din pala pag wala ka. Wala na akong makaaway or makulit kapag bored ako. Wala ng humihingi ng V-cut and Coke and wala na akong kaagaw sa remote control. Yung radyo walang gumagamit kasi tinatamad akong ilabas sa kwarto mo and wala namang AM stations yun so ayaw ni Mama. I'm telling you, importante yun. Kung kumikita ka ng pera ngayon, mas malaki ang magiging sweldo mo and mas maganda ang magiging trabaho mo kung college grad ka. O sya! Yan na muna. Love you!

Welcome

"I am a poster girl with no poster. I am 32 flavors and then some..."

Who is Maan?

Very talkative, very frank to the point of being tactless. Major hyper active and super kulit. Tampuhin, selosa and madalas may topak. Psychotic but bearable most of the time. Pakialamera. Addicted to those excel quizzes and surveys forwarded through e-mail. Have learned how to say no to FREE FOOD and resist the temptation of buffets. Listens to The Morning Rush with Chico and Delamar and is a major fan of Sex and the City. Fiercely loyal to friends (especially the under dogs). Can't dance, can't sing, can't act but very OA (Outstanding Actress). Doesn't smoke, drink nor do drugs but definitely a great girl to hang out with (sagot ko na ang kwento). Cynical on the outside but a hopeless romantic deep inside. Tries not cry over a guy but will shed buckets of tears while watching a movie. Escapes from the real world by reading books, watching movies, and tv shows. Dreams of travelling the world someday and joining The Amazing Race with a friend who knows how to swim, ride a bike and drive a car.
